Miami Digs: Coconut Grove Attractions

Posted by in Uncategorized | July 03, 2013

Established back in 2009, the Mayfair Antique Market is an interesting attraction in Miami that is free to the public. The indoor and outdoor market can be found in the breezy, laid-back neighborhood of Coconut Grove. It takes place for one weekend every month, but when the summer season comes, it opens every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. At the market, people can find different artworks, nice jewelries, collectibles, memorabilia, rugs, furniture, and of course, antiques that date back to the 9th century. All of which line the streets of Miami, making it a haven for curious shoppers and those who would like to experience the local culture.

The Mayfair Antique Market’s exact location is at the Promenade at Mayfair at 2911 Grand Avenue. It features more than 40 different dealers. Most of them sell unique, bizarre, and vintage goods. There are also a number of valuable items for serious collectors of antique, as well as fun items for the casual buyers. Some of the stalls are set up at the 10,000 square foot store, while others are already outside the Promenade. Visiting the market is surely one of the most interesting things to do in Miami.

What is an Antique?

An antique is an old collectible item. It is collected mostly because of its age, beauty, rarity, condition, utility, personal connection, or other unique features. It is an item that represents the previous area or the period before the present time.

It is common practice to call an item an antique when the object is already at least 100 years of age.

Antiques are usually items that show a degree of craftsmanship or an attention to design. These can often be bought from antique shops, or passed down from one generation to the next. Some of the valuable antiques can be bought from dealers and auction services, or perhaps purchased online through different websites.

On the Mayfair Antique Market, you can definitely find items that are worth it. So, be sure to visit the market on a weekend this summer.
